Homes For Ukraine - New hosts needed across South Gloucestershire

Flag of Ukraine with message saying: We stand with Ukraine

South Gloucestershire Council - 20th June 2024

The war continues in Ukraine, leaving families and individuals in desperate situations through no fault of their own. Across the country innocent people are dying, children are going hungry, hospital medical supplies are running out and frightened people live with fear every day. These people urgently need a safe place to call home until this terrible situation changes.

South Gloucestershire Council continues to stand with Ukraine. As part of this support, our Homes for Ukraine team now need more sponsors who can host a Ukrainian guest or family.

The Homes for Ukraine Sponsorship scheme is a government wide programme. It allows Ukrainian nationals and their immediate family to apply to live in the UK with a host family, whilst they find their feet and move into independent living, until it is safe to return to Ukraine.

Many of our residents have shown great compassion, with over 300 amazing families already hosting Ukrainians. Thanks to their generosity over 80% of Ukrainians adults across the area are working, 60% have already moved on to independent living and Ukrainian children are settled in our schools.
